The Portland Kids Music Scene

Portland, you amaze me yet again. I have just discovered the wonderful world of children's musicians that play at the coffee shops and libraries around Portland. Does that not sound like the best job ever? We spent the morning at Rain City Coffee listening, dancing and jamming along with local musician Tallulah's Daddy. The music was great, Seeley was her usual social butterfly self, and the babes even got to play their own instruments at the end. It was fantastic :) Enjoy some pics and a video of Tallulah's Daddy!

Anyone playing music has Seeley's full attention!

Hands in guys! One, two, three, BABIES!!

Pile of cute

Dance party!

Just staring at strangers :)

Baby jam session!

A musician in the making...

Summertime Music!

It's officially summer! Despite only occasional days of actual summer weather here in Portland, I'm determined to do fun summer things as often as possible! My favorite types of music (especially in summer) are bluegrass and folk. One of my new favs is Sarah Jarosz. So enjoy the summer and enjoy some summer music!

Good Music: Gotye "Somebody That I Used to Know"

This is my favorite song right now. This guy's voice is phenomenal (does anyone else think he sounds exactly like Phil Collins?) Enjoy!

Friday Music (Get Out the Tissue)

Wes and I love Paul Simon, and when we found out we were having a girl Wes would sing "Father and Daughter" and play it on his computer on repeat. It made me cry every time. I thought it was the pregnancy hormones but, nope, still crying. I found the song with a little music video on Youtube. Enjoy...
(p.s. Seeley and Paul Simon share the same birthday, which is awesome)

Seeley's Song

I've been singing "Songbird" by Fleetwood Mac to Seeley all morning:) It's such a sweet song for a sweet girl.

Fire Water (River of Love)

I woke up in a bad mood this morning. I am an extremely light sleeper and pregnancy has only made this worse. Usually when I wake up pissy I listen to a song that makes me smile, dance or laugh. Today that song is "Fire Water (River of Love)" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. I could listen to this song over and over and I love how their band has, like, 500 people in it:) Enjoy!

Favorite Musicians Mashup

I have to share this. Bonnie Raitt is one of my favorite musicians and Bon Ivor is one of my favorite new (to me) finds. The combined amazingness above is Iver singing two of the best songs ever written, "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Nick of Time" by Bonnie Raitt. Cry and enjoy.
